TWO DAY COURSE Sculpture with Neil Dalrymple Tues 12 & Wed 13 May |
Following the phenomenal success of last year’s course, we have decided to run a two-day event this
year. An interesting, informative and fun course beginning with a step-by-step demonstration on how to
create an animal form using the clay slab technique and hand modelling. There will be an opportunity to
try your hand at sculpting, with guidance from Neil should you need it. Please feel free to bring along your
own source material if you wish. Suitable clay bodies, glaze and colouring, and alternative sculpture techniques
will be discussed throughout the course. Examples of Neil’s work will be available to view, as well
as photographs showing his range of sculptures. Please contact us for details of local accommodation

Raku with John Wheeldon Tues 2 June - Fully Booked |
A full day course hosted by internationally renowned raku artist, John Wheeldon, incorporating demonstrations
and plenty of hands-on opportunities. The course will cover glaze preparation and application,
kiln firing and advice on kiln construction. Please book now as places are limited due to the intensity and
content of the course. Pots for glazing will be provided, but please feel free to bring your own low-fired
(920°C) bisque pots if you wish - please contact us for more details. You are very welcome to take home
your finished pieces at the end of the day.

A fun and informative full-day “hands-on” workshop, hosted by Sylvia Clayton. Introducing a myriad of
techniques and surface effects, and demonstrating the correct application of our wide range of brush-on
glazes and associated products, both low and high temperature, from highly regarded manufacturers
such as Mayco, Spectrum and Botz. Let your creativity run free with a series of specially planned projects.
You are very welcome to take home your finished pieces at the end of the day.
Ideal for teachers, hobby ceramists and contemporary studios/clay cafés. As this is a very popular
course, we highly recommend that you book early to avoid disappointment.

Following the phenomenal success of last year’s course, we have decided to run a two-day event this
year. Hosted by internationally renowned potter, David Frith, the course deals with all aspects of throwing
with practical demonstrations and hands-on sessions. This is a very popular course and places are very
limited due to the nature of the tuition (max. 8 places) so please book early. Please contact us for details
of local accommodation available. If you would like your finished pots to be fired for collection at a later
date, please ask a member of staff about our firing service.

Covers kiln construction, installation, operation and correct use; repairs and replacement of elements; temperature control; various firing cycles and use of cones; kiln furniture; maintenance and safety considerations.

Basic glaze technology; glaze preparation and adjustment; glaze formulation; typical recipes; mixing; opacifiers; colouring pigments; wax resists; masking techniques etc.; demonstration of glaze application methods and various decorative techniques; glaze firing; firing cycles and faults. All seminars will be held at Potclays in Etruria, Stoke on Trent. Seminars will commence promptly at 9.00am and will finish at around 4.00pm. We try to keep group sizes as small as possible to ensure you get the most from your day. A buffet lunch and refreshments are provided: Please advise us of special dietary requirements well in advance.

| Substitute delegates may be nominated at any time. There is no charge for delegate substitution providing there is no change of course date.

Cancellations by you |
If you need to cancel your booking your cancellation must be received in writing at least 14 days before the course date. A full refund will be made of course fees paid. We are unable to process a refund for
cancellations received less than 14 days before the date of the course.
