Blue Clay in a Range of Shades

Each of our blue clays offers a distinctive tone. The Blue Earthenware is perfect for use in creating vibrant decorative wares and produces a strong, clean blue tone when fired at earthenware temperatures. It is ideal for colourful sculpture or surface decorations.

For higher temperature firing, Lagoon Turquoise offers a luminous aqua hue and smooth texture that's perfect for throwing or modelling, while Upsala Blue offers a deeper, stone or mineral-based tone close to a royal blue, which is suited for refined ceramics.

Utilise the characteristics of these high-quality clays and let your creativity run wild.

Using Blue Clay

These clays are designed to meet the needs of beginners and professionals. While earthenware options are soft and forgiving and can hold vibrant glazes, the porcelain selections are better suited for delicate forms, requiring precise modelling.

All clay bodies provide good quality and are developed to withstand firing temperature fluctuations with minimal shrinkage and cracking. They respond well to slips and stains, allowing for layered colour effects and contrast when using certain glaze types.
