Glaze for Earthenware Pottery in a Range of Forms

Our glaze options include powdered, brush-on and liquid glazes that can be applied by brush, dipping, or even spraying before being fired in the kiln, typically between Cone 04 and Cone 06.

Powdered glaze is an economical option for users looking to glaze with volume and is perfect for dipping. Mix the powder with water to achieve the right consistency. Brush-on glazes are conveniently pre-mixed and can be applied in coats to meet a required coverage or effect. Liquid glaze for earthenware can be thinned to be used in spray booths to keep layers thin and even.

Our earthenware glazes are lead-free, where stated. We recommend that you test glazes on your chosen clay and firing cycle to fully understand crack resistance, fit and durability.

Glaze Effects Available in our Earthenware Range

Clear glazes offer a glassy, bright finish that allows any underlying decoration or clay body to show through. These glazes are popular for sealing over underglazes, slips or printed designs, enhancing colour without obscuring finer details.

Opaque colours deliver strong and saturated coverage that completely hides the clay beneath. These glazes are perfect for achieving solid blocks of colour or striking graphic effects.

Matt finishes bring a softer quality to ceramic surfaces. By reducing shine, they highlight texture and detail in the clay, lending depth and subtlety to decorative work. These glazes are often used in sculptural pieces for the best results.

Crackle and metallic glazes are specialised designs, giving either an aged aesthetic or a bold reflective accent to projects. They are ideal for decorative pottery, and can be used either sparingly or across entire pieces.
