About

Place over fingers when dipping ware to leave a fingermark-free glazed surface. Surface tension holds a small amount of glaze in each cell so that when the ware is released whilst the glaze is still wet after dipping, the marks heal over instantly. They also provide 'grip' and act as a barrier to prevent the skin's oils from affecting glaze adhesion.

Pack contains a pair of Fingerdips, each is 5cm long.

DIRECTIONS:

For best results, think carefully about the contact points when holding your piece. We recommend the following:

  • For smaller items, place the Fingerdips over your fore- and middle finger and hold the piece to be dipped firmly with your two fingers on the rim, and your thumb on the base.
  • For larger items, use a pair of Fingerdips on each hand to hold the piece by the base and rim. Trial and error will be needed to find your ideal way of holding a particular shape.
  • Dip and remove the piece from the glaze in one smooth movement, carefully shake/flick the piece repeatedly to remove excess glaze and prevent drips.
  • Place the piece upright on a flat surface, remove your hand and gently touch up any marks left by the Fingerdips by dabbing your finger once or twice over them whilst the glaze is still wet.

CAUTION: Take care with unfired underglaze/glaze decoration as the Fingerdips may pull away some of the decoration when removed after dipping. Be sure to grip the piece in undecorated areas or alternatively a 'hardening-on' firing (700-800C) will fix the decoration prior to dipping.
