Easy to Use Liquid Engobe
BOTZ Engobes are versatile colouring slips that provide excellent adhesion, vibrant colour intensity, and a smooth application. Whether used alone or overglazed with transparent glaze, they offer a range of effects. When fired without glaze, BOTZ engobes transform into an earthy matte surface with good coverage and sharp contours.
Applying BOTZ engobes is simple. Stir thoroughly, then brush onto leather-hard or biscuit-fired clay, usually in two to three coats depending on the desired effect. They offer good coverage, sharp detail, and strong bonding to the clay body, making them ideal for traditional engobe decoration as well as contemporary design approaches.
BOTZ Engobes are perfect for sgraffito, slip-trailing, block colours, pattern work, and adding bright or earthy tones to pottery before glazing.
Are BOTZ Engobes Vegan?
BOTZ confirms that, to their current knowledge, no animal-derived materials are used in the production of their engobes. They source raw materials, stains, and base mixtures, then combine them with binders to create their liquid formulations.
BOTZ therefore believes its products, including BOTZ Engobes and BOTZ Glazes, are vegan-friendly and cruelty-free, making them a reliable choice for potters prioritising ethical ceramic materials.
