Can I use hand-built add-ons on my slip cast piece?

Even when casting slip is made from the same clay as the hand built pieces, the manner in which the clay particles align themselves is different. This means that the shrinkage of slip cast ware is different from thrown, slabbed or machine made ware. It therefore follows that when both manufacturing methods are employed on the same piece of work there is a risk that the two components will separate at some stage.
