It is supplied exclusively by Potclays Ltd. and our authorised distributors.

It is designed to fit wheelheads fitted with bat pins, but can also be used on un-drilled wheelheads - please see advice below.

The HEX© Bat System is 350mm overall diameter, supplied with five 190mm (measured flat-to-flat) hexagonal inserts made from top quality exterior 12mm MDF. The MDF is left untreated for a slightly porous finish which will aid release of the pot from the bat as it dries. The hexagonal shape of the inserts provides a space-saving solution for storing your pots.

Will the HEX Bat System© fit my wheel?

The HEX Bat System© has been fit-tested with factory-pinned wheelheads from Shimpo, Brent and Rohde.

The outer ring is drilled for standard 9.38-10mm dia. pins on:-

US Standard: 254mm hole centres (10 inch)
EU Standard: 250mm hole centres

The HEX bat system© does not fit the Shimpo Tabletop RK5T.

The HEX bat system© is designed to fit slightly loosely over the pins, and the inserts within the aperture should also be slightly loose. Tolerances are necessary with wood products. This should not impact on the product when in use.

Yes - we have tested our HEX Bat System© on an un-drilled wheelhead by using a dampened Xiem BatMate to grip the HEX Bat System ©. Soak the BatMate in water, and wring out then place onto the clean wheelhead. Wipe a damp sponge over the underside of the bat system then press down firmly onto the BatMate for a good grip. This method is only suitable for throwing small to medium sized pieces as more upwards pressure when throwing larger pieces may result in the bat detaching from the BatMate.

Wipe with a damp sponge to clean. Do not get the inserts excessively wet as they may swell.
If the inserts do swell, allow to dry completely. You may need to lightly sand the edges to get them to fit again.
Dry and store the inserts on their side in a washing-up drainer rack or similar so the air can circulate. Avoid stacking inserts unless completely dry.
