About
- Carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) is a modified plant cellulose (gum) commonly used in ceramics as a glaze binder.
- It is possible to mix gum powder with other dry ingredients before adding them to the water (often 0.5-1.5%)
- However a more effective method is to make a gum solution when making up a batch of slop glaze, reducing the amount of water accordingly.
- Make a gum solution by adding up to 70g of 3433 to 1lt of boiling water and mix vigorously with a mechanical mixer.
