Manganese Carbonate MnCO₃

Generally produces similar colours obtained from manganese dioxide, but is weaker and more finely divided.

Raw colour of powder: Oatmeal

Colour responses after firing

• Painted onto clay: Dark brown
• Painted onto biscuit: Dark brown
• Painted onto unfired glaze: Brown, sometimes plum depending upon glaze make-up
• Mixed into glaze: Brown, sometimes plum depending upon glaze make-up
• Reduction firing:  Brown

Please note that these are the typical results,but combinations of oxides will produce different results depending upon the relative percentages of each used and the firing conditions in the kiln.  Also the underlying body colour will influence the resulting colour.
