A BRAND NEW cone 5/6 glaze line that exhibits unique and captivating visual effects reminiscent of cosmic or otherworldly phenomena.

Solar Rainbow is a highly fluid, dark gloss glaze with iridescent rainbow crystals. Breaks translucent.

Apply to: Cone 04 Bisqueware
Number of coats: 4 coats

• This glaze performs best at cone 6 but can be fired to cone 5. For best results, leave the inside or back of the form unglazed.
• Can be fired in a normal medium-speed firing with no special cooling schedule required. To take this glaze to the next level, use a controlled cooling schedule for increased crystal growth.
• These glazes are prone to running so we recommend stopping your glaze about half an inch above the foot. You can also use a drip tray or soft bricks to protect kiln shelves.
• Is this glaze food safe? Yes, but due to durability, these glazes are not recommended for food surfaces.

Tableware producers must test all finished ware to establish dinnerware status, due to possible variations in firing temperature and contamination.

RECOMMENDED FIRING OF COSMOS GLAZES

While these glazes can produce crystalline effects with no special schedules, using a controlled cooling schedule can increase crystal growth. In addition, the chemistry of these glazes makes them prone to pinholing. Amaco suggest a couple of ways to counter this:

1) Use on a narrow neck or closed form and DO NOT glaze inside to allow gases to escape through the unglazed area.

2) If the inside and outside of the piece is glazed, we recommend the following firing schedule:
