About
FIRING TEMP 880-1050 C
Our 2261 Lead Bisilicate is a 'true' Lead Bisilicate in that it contains 65-66% Lead Oxide, 32% Silica and 2% Alumina which acts as a stabiliser. This formulation allows for two molecules of silica to bond with 1 molecule of lead forming a Lead Bisilicate.
Most frits, with the exception of lead based ones, can be used in stoneware glazes because the typical % addition would be less than 70%, quite often around 10-20%. Frits when manufactured are smelted at temperatures above 1200oC so the stoneware firing presents no problem.
