About

CENTRAFACIL: The definitive solution to centring problems.

Patent No. U202332072

Introducing the brand new CentrafacilTM - a manual centring device for quick centring of clay on the potter's wheel.

Centring the clay is the most difficult part of throwing.

  • CentrafacilTM will not only assist in centring the clay, but it will help you to understand the mechanics behind the process of centring.
  • CentrafacilTM is suitable for all users at any experience level. It is particularly useful to those with physical impairments that make centring difficult or even impossible.
  • CentrafacilTM will fit any potter's wheel with a splash tray.
  • CentrafacilTM has been tested with up to 5kg clay.
  • CentrafacilTM is constructed with bamboo wood from well-managed forests. FSC C169559 Untreated bonding.

A message from the creator of CentrafacilTM, Albert Soler:

“I have been teaching ceramics classes at a cultural association for a year. They are all beginners, and for them, these two hours a week are a luxury, a space of time for personal enjoyment. Everything was going very well, until one afternoon a couple of students, who had been turning for some time, got stuck on the wheel. Neither could center the ball of clay correctly. I asked several ceramist friends, who have been teaching for many years, if they also observed this difficulty in centring. The answer was that some don't take weeks or months to learn, but years. A ceramist, with a lot of experience, told me that from 2kg onwards it was very difficult for her to center the clay. Another ceramics school told me that they constantly help their students with centering, because if they don't do it, some of them don't progress, they get stuck and the hours go by. I realized that the difficulty lies in the fact that placing one of the arms in a still/immoveable position is very difficult . I had to invent a real rigid arm if I wanted to solve this common problem.”
