STATEMENT FROM AMACO REGARDING GLAZE COLOR SHIFT
Clay, glaze, and underglaze ingredients may experience color, particle size, and other changes over time. This occurs due to natural variations in the mines from which raw materials come. Changes in manufacturing processes and suppliers can also be a factor.
AMACO’s Technical Services team is used to testing for consistency and adjusting formulas on an ongoing basis. In the aftermath of the Covid Pandemic shut downs and supply chain delays, Amaco have experienced a tremendous onslaught of material changes. Many standard ingredients have changed, been delayed, or are no longer available. Amaco's purchasing and QC teams continue to work tirelessly to source alternate materials and run stringent tests to ensure minimal impact of these changes on the fired results and end-user experience. Reformulated colors are tested for performance, consistency, and safety before being produced and packaged. Fired results are often brighter, clearer, or “better” than the original.
